MINOR
ACTS

WORKING GROUP FOR QUEER SPATIAL DISObEDIENCE

A 6-month working group for queer and trans people reclaiming space through embodied unlearning, shared practice, and subtle disruption.
proudly Part of the Queercircle Catalyst ecosystem.
We live, move, and survive within spatial systems that were not made for us. Architecture, design, planning—even at their most "inclusive"—often reproduce norms that invisibilise or constrain queer and trans life.
Minor Acts begins with a refusal: a rejection of those systems’ authority over how space is imagined, occupied, and transformed. In their place, we explore an alternative spatial praxis—one rooted in collaboration, small gestures, soft interference, and queer material experience.
This is not a course.
There are no teachers.
We are building a temporary, porous infrastructure for queer study and spatial resistance, shaped by those who show up.
Free and low cost.
You don’t need a background in architecture—only a commitment to experiemntation and a willingness to think and feel spatially, together.
The goal is to create with each session resulting in a small "Minor Act"

OVER 6 MONTHS WE WILL
-
Gather monthly to explore queer, trans and anti-disciplinary approaches to space
-
Share knowledge outside institutional hierarchies
-
Make and test tiny acts of spatial disobedience —stickers, signs, rituals, maps, zines, provocations
-
Learn from invited guests working across design, art, organising and more

WHO IS THIS FOR
Queer and trans people who work with or care about space—architects, artists, gardeners, organisers, writers, designers, dreamers.
Those navigating the cracks between disciplines. Especially those marginalised in or out of their fields.
Those wanting to enter the built environment but seeks a creative and subversive lens.
We welcome anybody who is interested in space, organizing, guerilla activism or is just interested what we're going to talk about.

WHAT YOU GET
-
A space to experiment and reflect outside mainstream design culture and tangible outcomes from each session - credit to all participants.
-
A peer network of queer spatial thinkers/doers
-
A place to rest, provoke, and make differently
